What it does · Guest folio
The bill, on the screen already in the room.
Pro:Centric can greet a guest by name, set the menus to their language and show what they owe — as soon as something answers its PMS interface. Niteporter is that something. It knows who is in room 101 because it has been watching RMS since they checked in, and it can settle the account without anyone walking to reception.
How it works
Every one of these questions is answered from Niteporter's own record of who is in each room, which it keeps up to date from RMS. The television never waits on a live lookup.
When a set powers on, Pro:Centric asks who is in the room. Niteporter replies with the current reservation — the guest's name, their language, and the balance on their account. The screen switches to that language before the guest has touched anything.
Asking for the bill returns the folio as RMS holds it, line by line. Checkout is the one place the broker refuses to work from its own copy: it goes back to RMS for a fresh balance, and only records the departure if that figure agrees with what the guest was shown. A total is not something to serve from cache.
What the guest sees
On arrival
Their own name, in their own language. Not "Welcome, Guest" — the reservation's language code sets the interface, so a German guest gets a German menu without being asked.
During the stay
A running bill they can read at any hour without ringing anyone, which is usually the point at which a hotel discovers how many of its front-desk calls were people checking a number.
On the way out
Checkout from the bed at six in the morning, before an early flight, with the total confirmed against RMS as it happens. The departure is recorded in RMS the same way a receptionist would record it.
What you control
Very little, deliberately. The folio is RMS's, and the fewer decisions sit between the two, the fewer ways there are for a bill to be wrong.
- Which properties run it. The PMS interface is turned on per property in the portal. A hotel that only wants concierge requests need not serve a folio at all.
- How a television is matched to a room. RMS areas can be matched by extension, area name or external reference; the portal checks your choice against live RMS data and tells you how many rooms it actually resolved before you commission anything.
- Whether checkout is offered. Some properties want the bill visible but the departure taken at the desk. That is a switch, not a rebuild.
The fine print
- The figures are RMS's. Niteporter does not calculate a total, apply a tax or hold a second ledger — it shows what the property management system says and nothing else.
- Checkout re-reads the balance from RMS at the moment it happens. If RMS cannot be reached, checkout is refused rather than recorded optimistically. The guest is told to see the desk, which is the honest answer.
- Guests keep seeing their details during an RMS outage, because occupancy is held locally. Only the paths that move money stop.
- Line descriptions read exactly as RMS holds them. If a charge appears on the screen as "SUNDRY 4", that is what it is called in RMS, and that is where to fix it.
Everything on this site is one price. A property's room band covers every interface — this one included — along with the portal, hosting, backups and updates. Nothing on this page is an extra. See the band for your rooms · running a group?
Want to see it against your own data?
The quickest way to judge any of this is against your RMS training database. It needs no production credentials, it cannot touch a live reservation, and it is the one mode that lets you watch a whole night happen before you commit to anything.
