What it does · Pay channels
Bought at eight, watching by one past eight.
A guest wanting the football should not have to ring reception and wait for somebody to find the right screen. They buy the package from the menu, the entitlement is granted, and it lapses on its own when the time is up. Nobody has to remember to switch it off.
How it works
A package is something you sell, so it goes through the same path as everything else you sell. What is different is that it grants something, and that grant has to end.
Pro:Centric asks Niteporter what the room is entitled to; Niteporter answers from the entitlements it has granted and their expiry. There is no separate switch to flip, no spreadsheet of who bought what, and no room still receiving a package a fortnight after the guest who paid for it went home.
Check-out ends an entitlement whether or not it had run its course. The next guest in that room starts from nothing, which is the only defensible default.
What the guest sees
Before buying
What the package contains, what it costs, and how long it lasts. Written by you, in your words — the wording is yours to set, and the price shown is the price that will appear on the bill.
After buying
The channels, immediately, and a plain statement of when the package ends. Guests argue about premium television more than almost anything else on a hotel bill; telling them the expiry up front removes most of that.
When it lapses
Back to the standard line-up, quietly. No error, no locked screen, nothing for the night manager to explain at two in the morning.
What you control
- The packages. What each one is called, what it costs, and how long it runs for. A day pass and a whole-stay pass are the same mechanism with different numbers.
- Where the money lands. Each package points at an RMS sundry, chosen from the live list, exactly as every other charge does.
- Whether the property sells them at all. The pay channel interface is turned on per property. A hotel with no premium content never sees it.
The fine print
- Niteporter controls the entitlement, not the line-up. Which channels exist and how they are tuned is Pro:Centric's business and your content provider's; what this decides is who is allowed to watch them and until when.
- Selling is a money path. While RMS is unreachable the purchase is refused rather than granted on credit — but a package already bought keeps working, because the entitlement is held here.
- Your content agreements are still your content agreements. Nothing here changes what you are licensed to resell, or to whom.
Everything on this site is one price. A property's room band covers every interface — this one included — along with the portal, hosting, backups and updates. Nothing on this page is an extra. See the band for your rooms · running a group?
Want to see it against your own data?
The quickest way to judge any of this is against your RMS training database. It needs no production credentials, it cannot touch a live reservation, and it is the one mode that lets you watch a whole night happen before you commit to anything.
